Artel, an Ai Powered Flood Planning App won the Startup Stage last week Wednesday, at Kingston BETA’s 17th-anniversary technology event.
Led by Founder Tracy-Ann Hyman, ARTEL uses artificial intelligence-based (A.I.) solutions, to save lives, and protect property from both man-made and natural disasters. The aim is to dramatically improve the decision-making capabilities of our clients, by providing timely, accurate, and micro-level information before a disaster strikes.
The startup, playing in the Climate Change Adaptation and Climate Resilience space in Latin America and the Caribbean beat 5 other startups to win the prizes – $300,000 cash and connections to the SiliconCaribe Caribbean and Global Network of Experts and Investors.
And we had a packed house.
Our panel of four eCommerce and Digital Policy experts delivered a fantastic 45 mins of data, insights, and in-the-trenches experience stories. The audience was very engaged.
As usual, it was great to see our regulars, some of whom have been in the community from year one, some community members who pitched 10 years ago and are now running million-dollar digital businesses, or are no angel investors. Plus we had a lot of new eager faces.
A time was had networking until 11pm. A really, really good year for Kingston BETA has begun.
