Bahamian Digital Payments Company Island Pay they are expanding to Barbados with over 50,000 in its digital wallet [mobile wallets, Mastercard products, Sand Dollar wallets] from individual, business, and government customers.
The four-year-old company makes it easier to pay for goods and services as well as send, transfer, and receive funds electronically using their mobile phones and other access points. They made the announcement of this Barbadian expansion with the launch of its digital wallet and first transaction kiosk there.
Through Island Pay Barbados, the public can send and receive funds, pay bills with SurePay, and top-up with Flow and Digicel smartphones using both a digital wallet and physical kiosks at select locations. They can also fund their wallet and withdraw physical cash from their Island Pay account at the kiosk.
While Island Pay snagged 15 percent of the Bahamian population and wants to do the same in Barbados but will have to compete with SqueezeCash, that’s a peer-to-peer system that’s the Caribbean version of Venmo or CashApp, and also mMoneybb digital wallet.
