Project Binario, a non-profit based organisation that helps Caribbean with mentors and resources that can help their startups scale is taking 6 Caribbean Startups to the Caribbean Pavilion at Techcrunch Disrupt in San Francisco next month.
The selected Caribbean startups are:
Jermaine Henry, FlowFacto (Jamaica) – A cloud-based financing platform for SME exporters. This is his 3rd startup, his first was Agrocentral a marketplace that connected buyers and suppliers of farm products. This startup won the Startup Weekend Jamaica event staged by SiliconCaribe in 2013 and was taken to Kenya to startup showcase and conference. Jermaine has been part of the Kingston BETA tech startup Community since 2012.
Sergio Pengel, PIEDATA (Suriname) – Has developed a disaster and emergency management system for the Caribbean called Sonar. Which is excellent for them given the recent launch of the Caribbean Climate Smart Accelerator and the Clinton Global Initiative Action Network and their range of activities across the Region. Rafael Martinez, Mi Cama (Cuba) – is a platform for private home rental aimed at travel for locals.
Jeison Orovio, JYD, (Cuba) – is a web and content development and marketing firm working primarily in the arts
Dwayne Samuels, Samelogic (Jamaica) – helps companies measure customer emotion via collection of Snaps (15-60s videos) . This is Dwayne’s pivoted startup from his first startup which was called Grikly, which was an app that allows persons to share business cards via smartphones. Dwayne has been part of the Kingston BETA tech startup Community since 2012.
Nestor Tavares, Brands Of Americas (Puerto Rico ) – offers local entrepreneurs digital tools to export their products and grow.
