DBJ + SEEDSTARS WORLD + KINGSTON BETA DOES JOINT JAMAICAN STARTUP EVENT

The Development Bank of Jamaica (DBJ) has partnered with Swiss based-company, Seedstars World and Silicon Caribe’s tech startup event Kingston BETA –  to assist in identifying the best start-up to represent Jamaica in a regional and global competition where US$500,000 in investment awaits the global winner.

Seedstars World which organises worldwide competitions for start-ups, has conducted two workshops for entrepreneurs in Montego Bay and Kingston on October 24. From the application and workshop process -the top ten start-ups will participate in a final event to be held in Kingston on October 26 at JAMPRO.

We at SiliconCaribe’s signature Caribbean Tech Startup Event Team is happy to partner with DBJ and Seedstars for this joint event especially in this our 10th anniversary year. Kingston BETA which launched in February 2007 – has had over 90 events, with over 9,000 attendees seeing over 300 entrepreneurs from 10 Caribbean countries and the Diaspora – pitch their tech startup ideas.

Also at the joint event, Host of Kingston BETA, Ingrid Riley will moderate the 10th anniversary panel with the topic “The Status of Jamaica’s Tech Startup Scene- Beyond the Hype, Set for Growth.” On the panel are DBJ’s Venture Capital specialist Audrey Richards; Entrepreneur, Academic and Founder of ThinkJamaica Dr Stacey Ann-Wilson and Entrepreneur and Startup Advisor Marc Gayle.

The event starts at 6pm. There is a community contribution of JMD$500
