just won the World Summit Awards 2015 in Namibia. Notestmaster.com describes itself as an “e-learning platform for secondary level students. The platform enables students and educators, from different countries, to learn and share materials, using familiar syllabus frameworks that reflect their own curriculum.” They started up and focused initially in the Caribbean then spread quickly on the African Continent.”
The World Summit Award is a global initiative within the framework of, and in cooperation with, the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), in collaboration with UNESCO, UNIDO and UN GAID. WSA is the only ICT event worldwide, that reaches the mobile community in over 178 countries.
Notesmaster Namibia: Open Educational Resources (OERs) is among the 40 winners of UN-based World Summit Award, showcasing the world’s best practices in digital innovation. Notesmaster’s initiative in Namibia has been selected by the WSA Grand Jury as best and most innovative Digital Innovation with high impact on society 2015.
Notesmaster Namibia is a joint initiative between the Namibian College of Open Learning (NAMCOL) and Notesmaster that started in 2012. A variety of Open Educational Resources (OERs) have been developed and availed on the Notesmaster Namibia platform. Teachers and learners in a number of centers around the country have been trained to use the platform.
CXC stakeholders on Notesmaster Caribbean are able to access and make use of the materials created by their peers on Notesmaster Namibia.
