Statistics is more than just the collection of data, but a vital component of government and organisation policymaking and measuring of results.
Caricom Ambassador Colin Granderson, Assistant Secretary-General, Foreign And Community Relations opined that there is no doubt that statistics are an indispensable input in the planning, guiding and monitoring of Caricom’s development objectives. He was at the time speaking at the recently held 39th Meeting of the Standing Committee of Caribbean Statisticians.
“At a time of unprecedented economic challenges to the Caribbean Community where development is constrained by the very limited resources, statistics are crucial to determining how these resources are best deployed,” he said.
Ambassador Granderson outlined the importance of statistical data as a key cross-cutting aspect of the Caricom Five-Year Strategic Plan 2015-2019: Reposition CARICOM. MORE
