ENTERPRISE NEWS – Barbados may one day be the home of one of Columbus Communications Data Centres.
This disclosure was shared by the SME Team Lead with Columbus Barbados, Rory Hunte as part of the possible plans to come.Meanwhile, at present Columbus Business Solutions is continuing to partner with Citrix Systems, Inc. to help businesses in Barbados keep abreast of the new generation of Information-Communication Technol-ogy (ICT) in order to evolve and reach their maximum potential.
Prior to Columbus’ second technical-breakfast yesterday morning at Courtyard Marriott in Hastings, Hunte told the Barbados Advocate that the Cloud services on offer by Citrix, are being offered to clients in Barbados to keep local businesses on the cutting edge of ICT.
His comment came in part as a response to one Government Minister recently saying in essence, that many businesses on island are not utilising ICT effectively.
Hunte said that it was not a question of businesses not being fully on board but instead asserted, “ICT is developing technology. We talk about information and communication but there are different versions. Businesses because they have basic connectivity and telephones are in fact embracing ICT, but it is getting to the next level.”
And that is where he said Columbus comes in, “…that is why we are having this kind of interaction with our consumers, because they need to understand that we need to be made aware of what else is out there.” More
