Groundbreaking Initiative Code for the Caribbean kicks off with a Call for Fellows

JAMAICA– Caribbean Open Institute, Mona School of Business and Management, Slashroots Foundation, and Rural Agricultural Development Agency begin search for the most innovative minds of the region for a 6-month paid Fellowship in Kingston, Jamaica.

With so many advancements in the technology industry, why has the effectiveness of our public services not also improved? Code For The Caribbean (CftC) is a groundbreaking initiative which partners government agencies with teams of problem solvers to jointly leverage technology to create lasting solutions to our everyday problems.

Under the 2013 CftC Fellowship, 4 chosen Fellows will spend 6 months working in collaboration with stakeholders within and outside the Ministry of Agriculture. Fellows must develop innovative action plans addressing praedial larceny – the theft of agriculture and livestock – and create at least one application which enacts a meaningful and effective solution. Forced to think beyond the realm of theory, Fellows will instead develop practical enhancements that address our rapidly changing public sector service needs.

Prospective Fellows should enjoy working in a collaborative environment, and must also have the discipline and initiative to be self-starters. Developers, designers and entrepreneurs of various backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to apply.
