In a YouTube video by Mobile Future, there are stunning statistics about mobile’s growth world wide in 2011. For example
– Texts: 8.8 trillion texts were sent this year, up 1.1 trillion from last year. Interestingly, most of them were sent by a 14-year old from Minnesota named Megan who sent 1,095 texts per day.
– Apps: While just 5 billion apps were downloaded in all of 2010, 1 billion apps were downloaded worldwide each month in 2011. Social companies also saw a massive increase in mobile usage including a 166% increase in Facebook Mobile users in the first half of 2011 alone and 1 billion Foursquare checkins total.
