A Government Minister doesn’t know how to send an email, a Nation sighs

What do you do when you hear that a Government minister and your nation’s Attorney General says in public and on live TV that she doesn’t know how to send an email and that she depends on her secretaries to send email for her? So in essence the nation’s number one lawyer stated that she is neither computer illiterate nor internet savvy. * falls off chair*

All this in March 2011, Kingston Jamaica, a country that has 100% mobile penetration and 51% internet penetration. The individual: Dorothy Lightbourne. The circumstance: The Manatt/Dudus Commission of Enquiry – that television drama where essentially the Opposition acts like they are beacons of transparency and allergic to corruption, grills Government officials including the Prime Minister, on the issue that led to the most dangerous man in the country Christopher “Dudus” Coke being captured and extradited to the United States .

Whether she said it as a lie to cover her ass or it is quite the truth, is almost tangential. The fact that it was said, makes me angry as a tech entrepreneur that I live and do business in a country, that’s seemingly being led by a bunch of tech retards. I Wonder what the case is in other Ministries and government agencies?
