I was spring cleaning some bookshelves and met up on Webbound, a website directory I had bought in a pharmacy back in 2000-10 years ago. This was just two years after Google, the company was actually started. It was a big deal back then to have access to information in 2,000 categories from over 60,000 web address in print.
You can put all this in perspective, when you realise that the first Google Index in 1998 had 26 million pages and by 2000 the Google index reached the one billion mark.
Fast Forward to today, well, Webbound the magazine has gone out of business of course and Google now processes links on the web to find new content for over 1 trillion (as in 1,000,000,000,000) unique URLs on the web at once.
Oh my how the web has grown.
