Digital Grape Vine: LIME to launch their IPTV product today

So I heard a couple days ago that LIME ( formerly Cable & Wireless) to launch their IPTV product today at SportsMax Sportszone venue in New Kingston. I’m waiting to verifiy the pricing, device details. Heard the device will cost about $15,000 and the monthly subscription about $3,000 a month.Heard they are launching with channels like HBO and that the video clarity is superb.

What is IPTV ? Internet Protocol television (IPTV) is a system through which Internet television services are delivered using the architecture and networking methods of the Internet Protocol Suite over a packet-switched network infrastructure, e.g., the Internet and broadband Internet access networks, instead of being delivered through traditional radio frequency broadcast, satellite signal, and cable television (CATV) formats.

IPTV services may be classified into three main groups: live television, time-shifted programming, and video on demand (VOD).

As a tech industry colleague said to me, it is expected to set LIME apart from its competitors ( Digicel, Claro, Flow) in the marketplace. Well let’s see.
