A new study, a joint project by InsideFacebook.com and Serious Business, estimates that virtual goods saleswill double over 2008’s amount, reaching $1 billion this year and soaring to an estimated $1.6 billion in 2010.
The inescapable permeation of social networking in mainstream society, combined with steady gaming popularity and marketing smarts, has fueled the major market size growth for virtual goods. Looks like app and game developers will enjoy a mighty fine 2010.
