Why Cable & Wireless sucks. And why I wish I lived in a FLOW Zone.

Internet Cyberia, Jamaica-It was supposed to be a simple thing. I was moving from one place to another, and I confirmed that my landline would be an easy transfer since it’s on the same exchange. I really was moving only about 3 miles from my previous apartment.

I moved in November 2006, I got the phone and internet transferred 5 day before Christmas 2006. Then it really got painful. Some claffie, forgot to complete the transfer documentation, so in March of 2007 my phone and internet went poof. When did my service return, 8 months later and it wasn’t a smooth return either-the landline worked but no internet, then the internet worked but I can’t make calls, only receive. Eight months for a phone and landline to be transferred in 2007, in Jamaica. It has not been a good year for me and CWJ.

Then with the landline and internet finally working, I dared to ask for an upgrade from 256k ( I mean isn’t that like 48k anyway) to 2mb. I called it in, they said 5 days max to feel the speed effects. Two weeks ago I did a speed test, it was less than 256k, so I called CW&J and they told me that I do NOT have the upgrade and CANNOT get an upgrade because they are doing some work in my area.

Now while waiting frustrated without Internet for 8 months at home, while riding my neighbour’s open WIFI (with permission in the last couple of months) and hogging free Wifi at Susie’s Bakery and Cuddyz, I called FLOW until I was weak. I still even now hear the same response, they are not wiring my area as yet. I live in a large apartment complex for crying out loud and I’m in a highspeed internet dead zone? While friends elsewhere are surfing at some fly to the moon speeds using FLOW(even though I hear their customer service needs some serious work).  Someone help me!
