Jamaicapedia.com is a new site by Jamaican Mike Robinson. The idea he said is to showcase Jamaican stories told by Jamaicans. It’s a collection of videos and links to videos — all about Jamaica. Music, comedy, history, news … everything that makes Jamaica the land we love. You can browse videos or sign up and save your favourites or upload your own to add to the mix. I love the idea, just not seeing how it’s sustainable.
It’s an interesting jump into the user-generated content game. It would be great if it helped to spawn along with other sites, the development of good Jamaican content as there is dearth of such online. It’s a video heavy site which means storage on server costs, there is currently no evidence of a business model, maybe that is to come. You guys give it a test drive and tell us what you think.
